Thomas Jefferson
We don’t know why this didn’t make it into the Broadway hit “Hamilton,” but Thomas Jefferson actually owned a pair of grizzly bear cubs! They were a gift from a soldier named Zebulon Pike. He also had a pet mockingbird named Dick and a magpie that was one of four birds sent back from the Lewis and Clark expedition.
