Blueberries

Blueberries are categorized as superfood because they are very nutritious, low in calories and incredibly good for you and your pet. Blueberries are also considered the kind of antioxidant foods. Moreover, blueberries may help prevent heart disease and maintain brain function, improving memory. Wynn recommends that you use them as a dog treat. “A ‘treat’ is small, and a ‘snack’ is significantly larger — most owners don’t know the difference,” she said.

According to Jan Dempsey, Purina Senior Nutritionist, “Treats should make up no more than ten percent of your dog’s daily calories — even if the treats are a low-calorie and healthy option like blueberries. We always promote a one hundred percent complete and balanced diet as the main part of any pet’s diet.”

Fresh blueberries are really delicious for your pet, but you can also opt for frozen ones on warm days. “Freezing a fruit gives your dog variety because it changes the texture for him,” says Dempsey.
