Greyhound

Greyhounds are the cheetahs of the canine kingdom. With their aerodynamic musculoskeletal athleticism and condition, they can run up to 45 miles per hour, making them on of the fastest dog breed worldwide.

These big pups are generally known to be healthy, other than conditions commonly seen in all bigger breed dogs. Just remember to be on the lookout for symptoms and signs of osteosarcoma and congenital heart disease, which can be unpredictable in any type of breed.

And if you’re looking for a large breed to bring home, keep in mind that larger dogs with more weight can be predisposed to certain health concerns due to their size.

According to vets, giant breeds are prone to musculoskeletal or neurological conditions and any meds they need tend to be more expensive because of the larger dosage.

Havanese

If you live in a sunny climate, consider a Havanese dog to keep you company. These small, intelligent pups originally come from Havana, Cuba. So they can generally adapt to warmer temperatures.

But ALL dogs need a break from the heat every once in a while. So ensure your canine has plenty of cool air, shade, and easy access to water to stay hydrated. This is something that’s essential for any breed.

And when the weather is too hot or too cold to go outside, it’s better to find indoor activities to play together.

The havanese breed tends to live an average of 14 to 16 years, despite chronic ailments sometimes seen in small dogs, like kidney and liver disease. Other than that, these lively pups are a healthy, long-living furball breed.
