4. Try the clicker training

There are many people who say that clicker training is a really effective method to teach your dog different commands and behaviors. That is because you can click a lot faster than you can pet your dog on the head or give them a reward.

If you click and reward them every time your pup does something you wanted them to do, they will start to associate good behavior with clicking and receiving a treat.

You can apply this technique to any type of command you want to teach your dog. After a while of applying this method, your dog will remember that clicking comes after they did something good and what happens next is receiving something good.

…Long story short, this is what you have to remember: teach them a command, click if they performed it, give them a treat, and praise them at the end!

5. Train your pup on an empty stomach

This doesn’t mean you have to starve your dog before training them, but make sure to not feed them a big meal a few hours before the training session. That is because if they have a full stomach, they won’t be as interested in your treat.

The best part is that the more your dog wants the reward, the more focused they will be to receive it. As a result, they will learn a lot faster!

6. Move the training session to a park

If you want to teach your dog a command, such as “sit” or “come”, it is important to begin in a safe place, where they can focus all of their attention on you.

After a while, when they seem to make progress, you can move the training session to a park, where they might get distracted. Even though it might sound confusing at first, your pup must learn to respond to your commend even when they’re distracted by smells, sounds, sights, or other dogs.
