10 Very Unexpected Animals That Kill Human

Leopard Seal

This is not your typical human killer. Growing up to twelve feet (3.7m) in length, and weighing over 1,000 pounds (450 kg), the almost serpent-like leopard seals prowl the waters of the Antarctic ice shelf, and display a ferocious temperament, enormous canine teeth – and they’re not afraid to use them! One of the most brutal human attacks made by seals happened to researcher Kirsty Brown, who was dragged down more than 100 feet to her death.

Spitting Cobra

The secret weapon of these 9-feet-long masters of disguise is not their venom, but their ability to spit it at a distance of more than 8 feet! Their main target? The victim’s eyes. In fact, a spitting cobra’s venom is so dangerous that, unless treated quickly, can dissolve the eyes entirely.

These guys don’t play any games and if they see you as a threat, you won’t have time to react before their venom hits your eyes and infects you.

Transient Orca

What’s the most ferocious underwater creature out there? Before you say ‘shark,’ let us introduce you to killer whales. Although scientists insist on killer whales being harmless, there have been many cases when humans got hurt.

Transient orcas love to eat meat and they will surely attack you if you invade their habitat.

Wolverine

Remember those really wild creatures you often see in horror movies? Well, they are as real as it gets. Even though they are the size of an average dog, a single wolverine can casually kill a moose, an elk and, of course, a human all alone.

Wolverines are part of the weasel family, but they are adapted to hunting in today’s conditions. If you see one, beware.

Killer Coyote

Beautiful as they seem, these guys are not someone you want to mess with – especially in their natural habitat. If you think you can run from them, you’re wrong: a nimble coyote can reach over 40 miles/hour (64 km/h) and can take jumps of 13 feet (4 m) in one bound.

Remember Canadian pop singer Taylor Mitchell? Well, she was the victim of these coyotes while she was in Nova Scotia.

‘Flying Tiger’ Owl

Weighing over four pounds (1.8kg), with a wingspan of five feet (1.5m), the Great Horned Owl is also known as the “Flying Tiger”, preying on animals up to three times its own size. It might seem strange to claim that an owl actually kills humans, but this is as real as possible.

A researcher was studying eggs from an owl nest – when the parent showed up, it attacked his skull so badly, it actually killed him.

Giant Anteater

The name of this creature isn’t there for nothing – this South American animal weighs up to 150 pounds (70 kg) and reaches over 6 feet (1.8 m) in length! Even though anteaters look cute and silly, approaching this one can literally cost you your life.

Anteaters are experts are ripping ant hills, which makes it quite easy for it to tear a human apart with its arms and knife-like claws.

Irukandji

Looks pretty magical, doesn’t it? This sea creature measures no more than one cubic centimeter and is so transparent you can barely see it underwater. But don’t be fooled – it will kill you if it has to. Its venom is 100 times more deadly than that of a cobra and, unluckily, it might be present in every corner of the world!

California Sea Lion

This (apparently) cute creature lives in the western coast of North America. California Sea Lions weigh about 700 pounds (320 kg) and they definitely need plenty of food to support themselves. They are extremely teritorrial and wouldn’t think twice before killing anyone who crosses their land. In fact, sea lion attacks are more prevalent in this region than shark attacks!

Asian Carp

Looking at this photo probably makes you wonder how could these fish kill a human being. Don’t be fooled by images; an Asian carp weighs 100 pounds (45 kg) and reaches about 4 feet in length. Unfortunately, these Asian natives have conquered North American waterways and lakes as soon as they were brought into the continent.

There have been many incidents when fish jumped at boat riders and attacked their face and neck so badly, they actually caused victims. US and Canadian government departments have urged that these killer carp be controlled before another death occurs…
