I don’t know about you, but I am someone who wanted a dog my entire life but never mustered up the courage to actually get one. The thing that stopped me is the fact that I have to work in the office for the majority of the day, and the dog would stay home alone and upset.

Deciding to be a dog parent can be seen as the start of a great adventurous journey, but there are a lot of things that should be planned out carefully. Doing some research before taking the big step can make things smoother between you and your pup.

Even though it is not the smartest idea to leave a puppy alone for long periods of time, you might be able to find a way to solve the problem. I am sure you know that there are many dogs who suffer from anxiety when they are left home alone. And besides that, they can chew things up, bark loudly, or even soil the house.

If you want to become a dog owner, but you are afraid of these possible problems, you can choose a breed that doesn’t suffer so much from loneliness. Here are our top recommendations for dog breeds you can safely leave alone for hours.

  1. My favorite 2 dog breeds are German Shorthair Pointers and Yorkshire Terriers.
They both have extremely mild temperaments and excellent family dogs. They are very keen to sounds and strangers by scent. I recommend highly to any household with or without children or elderly.

  2. Regarding stupidest dogs… You missed the “alpha” of stupid: the Irish Setter. Big, beautiful, and dumb as hell!

  3. Your first choice states Miniature Schnauzer, however the image is a Wheaton Colored Scottish Terrier, which makes me question how well versed you are about dogs.
