6. German Shepherd
Unlike some of the other dog breeds on our list, German Shepherds weren’t bred explicitly for swimming. They are fantastic at different types of activities, such as protection, herding, aiding and helping, tracking, and specifically military work.
However, given the fact that they are courageous, athletic, fast, and strong, they love water and with a bit of practice, they can become strong swimmers.
7. Schipperke
The word “schipperke” means “little captain” in Flemish and this dog breed actually used to be well-known on barges. They are also known as “canal boat dogs”, so it’s understandable that these pooches love to be in the water.
They’re full of energy, funny, yet a bit stubborn and you’re definitely going to have a lot of fun with them outside.
8. Golden Retriever
If you usually watch a lot of reels and videos with dogs on social media platforms (I’m guilty of that), you’ve surely seen that a lot of people are the proud owners of a Golden Retriever.
These pups are extremely cute and fluffy and they like to spend time outside, moving their bodies, and they are very funny, both near and in the water. Their water-repellent coats help them be very comfortable while splashing into rivers and lakes.

9. Labrador Retriever
Labrador Retriever is well known for being the perfect breed for families, especially if they have kids. This breed has actually originated in Newfoundland as a water dog that helped fishers pull in large nets of catch.
Thanks to their thick and water-resistant coat, they are great swimmers and they enjoy retrieving water toys or playing in the water on a hot summer day.
10. Spanish Water Dog
The last dog breed that loves water on our list is the Spanish Water Dog. These medium-sized dogs are strong, muscular, and agile and they like to show off the fact that they are very competent.
This means that they love to be given tasks that they can tackle and take care of and they don’t mind getting dirty. They have a curly, woolly coat that makes them look like they are life-sized teddy bears. As you can imagine, their cute physique will make you cuddle with them all the time!
They love to swim and they will have a lot of fun if you would join them in the water and play with them. If you’re looking for a way to bond with your fluffy and cute pup, water is your friend!
