Norwegian Forest Cat
The Norwegian Forest Cat is a large, heavily boned and coated cat that loves to spend time with their owners, being a very affectionate and intelligent feline. As you can see, this cat is a strong and muscular feline that has a beautiful coat and appearance. Their coat provides extra protection to those who still live in the wild.
“The dense coat that keeps [these cats] warm and dry during the northern winters is so water-resistant that it’s often difficult to bathe them for the show,” says Teresa Keiger, cat breeder and Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) judge.
Even though it is a large cat breed with a strong personality, the Norwegian forest cat is a loving and affectionate cat that loves to interact with their family. It weighs between 12 to 16 pounds, but the abundance of fur makes the Norwegian forest cats look even bigger than they really are.
This cat breed is very active, so they love to play and hunt toys. Being a territorial breed by nature, these cats will inspect your house every day to make sure that everything is fine.
The best part about owning a Norwegian forest cat is that they can control their diet by themselves and will stop eating when they feel that they have eaten enough – unlike other animals that eat all day long until they vomit. They also exercise a lot, as they are active animals.

A cat came across the Atlantic in the Mayflower to deal with rodents. It was a working cat.

How about Rag Dolls ??
These Siberian and Norweigian cats are stunning because of the intense heat.S TX WE have short hair breeds
If I had my choice, I would want to own a Norwegian Forest Cat. One thing that this article does not mention, they are good for persons who suffer allergies to cat dander. It is really the saliva of the cat that triggers the allergies. Cats are territorial and mark their their territories with their saliva. The enzymes that trigger allergies are quite low in this cat.
Beautiful cats. I had a few Manx when I was younger. All were very sweet and affectionate cats..
I had a Maine coon here in Omaha NE his name was Cesar, the vet checked him out and said you have a very, very rare cat he had Red Telzar on his skin had he was gorgeous cat. We had him 10 yrs before he passed away. I really miss him it’s been 46 yrs since I held him.
Please don’t promote these “Breed” cats. Thousands of cats are euthanized everyday….we don’t need more. Millions of cats live as stray and feral. They live lives of starvation, disease and suffering. Please promote spaying/neutering of cats andadopting from shelters/rescues. Please do not encourage breeding.
