It comes as no surprise to anyone that the animal kingdom is full of wonders and it will never fail to amaze us.

We learned that hybrids are possible, that some of the creatures even have death rituals so, personally, there’s nothing left to awe us.

Or is it? We believe you will be thrilled to learn that even animals, not just humans, are capable of unusual friendships.

You know the popular saying: ” A dog is a man’s bestfriend”, but it can also be an elephant’s best buddy.

If curiosity got to you check the next page to find out what we’re talking about.

Let’s see who are the surprising creatures that bonded:

1. An African elephant called Bubbles and a black Labrador called Bella

The two bonded in a safari reserve after Bubbles was brought from Africa and Bella was left there by a contractor.

The two get along really well despite the significant difference of height. Bella even uses Bubbles as a diving board!

Well, we have to admit, we’d like to use our friends as a diving board as well from time to time.

In addition, they even play fetch sometimes, which must be an absolute DREAM for Bella, finding a best friend who can carry you AND play fetch with you?!

If we were a dog we would be excited as well!

You’ll not be outfoxed by this next story…..

2. A wild fox named Sniffer and a dog named Tinni

It seems that dogs are friends with just about anyone!

The odds of these two being enemies are very high in reality, which is why it came as a big surprise that the two became inseparable since.

The photographer Torgeir Berge,  who says that their behavior is more similar than we think, noticed them on his property.

They hang out there quite often. The photographer used their friendship as a campaign against the Norwegian fox fur trade.

The two pals met in the forests of Norway and have been friends ever since.

This next pair will turn your head around…..

3. An owl and a dog

Torque adopted Shrek, the owl, when he was only 6 months old. The owl was removed from its mother’s nest because they were afraid she would hurt Shrek.

To be more exact she could have eaten her offspring if she became anxious. And so the care takers took Shrek away and it instantly connected with the four legged friend.

The Greyhound discovered his paternal side when he ”adopted” the bird. Wish that could work with our kids to be honest (just kidding we love them).

Well if you thought you’ve heard everything by now, think twice.

This next story is like a living cartoon…..

4.This one is for the books: A tiger, a bear and a lion

Is this a Jungle Book remake no one told us about?! Well, if it’s not, then that’s a very interesting coincidence!

I mean what are the chances? What’s next? Are we gonna see a clownfish and Pacific Blue Tang together as well?

Now leaving aside all Disney related jokes, the story of the three animals has a sad beginning.

The three have been rescued from a drug dealer who used to abuse them. They have been inseparable ever since.

What kind of a cruel creature would hurt these amazing animals?! There’s a reason why animals are better than humans.

You’ll want to pig out on our next story…..

5. Manni, the piglet and Candy, the dog

The piglet was found starving in an open field by a German family.

It looked like his mother abandoned him, when he was just a few weeks old.

They were kind enough to take the piglet home where the dog became his new best friend.

The family bottle fed him and quickly introduced him to the Jack Russell terrier.

They get along very well, they spend several hours outside playing in the bushes, having lots of fun. We know what you’re thinking but the German family got attached to Manni and he will not end up on the Christmas dinner table, that’s for sure.

Wait….. another living cartoon next???……

6. A rabbit and a deer

We promised to leave aside the Disney related jokes, but this is getting out of hand! Now a rabbit and a deer? Oh, dear!

A photographer spotted the duo hanging out together. Sounds a little bit like Bambi doesn’t it? But we hope the deer’s mother didn’t have the same fate!

Well, the photographer even named the dear Bambi and the rabbit’s name is Ben!

They became close after Ben’s owner saved the deer from the roadside some many years ago. Even if you’re not a big fan of animals in general, this pair will undoubtedly win your heart!

7. Suryia the Orangutan and Roscoe the dog

Just like we said before, dogs will befriend just about anyone (we wish we were that sociable and friendly with just anyone really)!

Suryia lives in an endangered species reserve in the US. Even though Roscoe is not endangered, the canine friend followed Suryia home and since Roscoe had no place to go, he stayed there with her.

Well, that’s just sweet devotion, isn’t it? if you wish to find out more about their friendship there’s even a book written about the two pals.

Can you imagine you’ve got a best friend for life and a book written about you? If reincarnation exists we wish we could come back as a canine!

You’ll not see any monkeying around in our next story…..

8. We never believed two tiger cubs and a chimp would get along this well

The cubs’ reserve was flooded back in Africa and so they were moved to another one in the US, where Anjana, the chimp would end up taking care of them.

Sadly, the cubs were separated from their mother because of a hurricane, the same that flooded their home, and so Anjana became their ”surrogate” mother.

Well, this sad story had a happy and honestly quite unexpected ending. It’s interesting how we find out more and more about animals and their behavior, and it never stops to amaze us.

Finally, this would make an awesome episode of Family Feud…..

9. A group of otters and a family of orangutans

At the Belgium zoo Pairi Daiza, a group of otters started bonding with a couple of orangutans and their 3 year old son.

Uijan, a 24 years old male, and Sari, a 15 years old female, have been living at the zoo with their son, Berani, since 2017. In the meantime the family befriended the otters.

They even live all together ”as a form of enrichment and entertainment”, well talk about modern households am I right?
