This Endangered Cat’s Cry for Help Will Melt Your Heart

Janine Dawson was walking on the streets in Manchester, England, and she heard a strange sound that caught her attention. This frantic sound signaled that someone needed help. Then she discovered a little cat trapped between two buildings.

The cat’s name was Simba and Janine recognized the cat because it was the her neighbor’s pet. Simba was playing outside and it wanted some adventurous activities that did nothing but draw it into a trap and the cat got stuck between two houses.

When it realized that its life was in danger, the cat knew how to call for help and started to cry out loud. When Janine saw that the life of this poor cat was in danger she called the RSPCA and asked them to save the cat.

The RSPCA sent animal collection officer Emma Pollard and inspector Nichola Waterworth out to the neighborhood to asses the situation. They were shocked when they saw the cat’s situation. Simba was more and more scared. The rescuers also worried they did not have all the necessary measures to save it. “The poor cat was well and truly stuck in the gap and was crying very loudly,” Pollard said in a press release. “At one point, I feared we wouldn’t be able to free him.”

One of the rescuers tried to stick her hand in the crackling between the houses, but the gap was too narrow. They tried any solution they had at their disposal to save it, but it was in vain. After numerous attempts, they called the Heywood Community Fire Crew for further assistance.

When the firefighters were planning a strategy to save Simba, it suddenly got courage to save its life and was able to move to the firefighters’ hand.

One thing was sure, Simba was smart enough to meow for someone to hear her and to save her. “When he was finally pulled free he was very subdued so we took him to the RSPCA’s Greater Manchester Animal Hospital for a check-up where he was given the all-clear,” Pollard said. “It’s great when a rescue like this has a happy ending and we are able to reunite a much-loved pet with their owner.”

The cat’s owner, Sania Anwar, was at work when all these happened. Anwar went straight to the animal hospital to pick him up, and was overjoyed that he was safe and had somehow come out of the whole ordeal healthy and unharmed.

“Normally when I come home from work and park on the driveway Simba always comes running up to meet me, but he didn’t that day,” Anwar said in a press release. “When I got back home that evening, Janine came out to meet me and I knew straight away there would be something wrong with Simba. I’m so grateful to her and those who rescued him.”
