A Heartbreaking Look At Animals Threatened By Hurricanes

These beautiful pups were left behind by their owners after Hurricane Harvey past. Now, they are doing their best to survive on their own.

The staff members of the Cuba dolphinarium are getting dolphins ready to be moved to a different facility before Hurricane Irma hits.

Staff members are carrying dolphins on short distances towards the facility. The decision of moving the creatures was tough and full of risks. Fortunately, they all made it to the destination.

Stray dogs were brought to an emergency shelter at the Miami-Dade County Fair Expo Center to stay safe during the hurricane.

Even children did their best to protect the poor creatures against the storm. In this photo, a child from Cap-Haiten, Haiti, is struggling to keep chickens inside the house as the hurricane approaches.

Gretchen and Ron Levine welcomed dozens of animals at their Florida shelter. The pets were brought by families before fleeing the storm.

Thanks to a handful of amazing people, over 300 dogs, cats and other pets were rescued from Hurricane Harvey. Thank you!

“We have so many exhibits that need the oxygenation and life-system support for the filtration. We had to make sure all that was functioning,” explained the Zoo Miami staff. Everybody is doing their best to provide quality living conditions for the exotic animals during this difficult time.

The police also paid extra attention to pets who were left without a home following Hurricane Harvey. Here, they are taking many animals to a new home after they were left stranded in their former flooded shelter.

This pup was spotted in Sinton, Texas, carrying a bag full of dog food back to his shelter. The golden retriever named Otis reportedly got home safe after this adventure.

Unfortunately, not every pet was as lucky as Otis to have its own home. This dog was spotted by a photographer trying to find shelter against the massive Texas flooding on the streets. It was abandoned by his owners and it was the photographer himself who saved the poor creature.

Taxi driver William Bruso from Missouri City, Texas, was amazed when a Cooper’s hawk entered his cab through the window. The bird was in state of shock because of the low pressure and high winds of the storm. All it could do was stare at the driver helplessly.

This deer family was on its way towards a safer forest when Hurricane Harvey hit. The flooding caught them out in the open and they simply couldn’t move because of the shock.

Animals don’t need to suffer this kind of pain. If you see any pet left stranded, take him with you or announce the local police (or local community support) so they can save him. If you own a pet and can’t take him with you to a safer place, leave him at one of the many emergency centers available. Please, be kind and help each other. We wish you our best during these difficult times!
