1. To keep their coat clean and smooth

Felines are very delicate and beautiful creatures. And besides playing with a cotton ball and sleeping all day long, they also like to take care of their beautiful and fluffy coat.

Cats tend to groom themselves for the sole purpose to distribute their natural skin oils. That way they keep their fur shiny and purrrrfect.

2. To regulate the temperature of their bodies

Grooming is an important and vital part of their routine. Not just for making their coat look pretty, but it also allows them to regulate the temperature of their bodies.

3. To cool down

Have you ever wondered how your kitty can survive a hot season? Even though the AC is on at all times, there are inevitable moments where they feel the heat. So, to take care of that they groom themselves.

It actually helps them a lot to cool down.

4. To stimulate circulation

Grooming does so much more to cats other than just giving them a stylish look or a quick bath! Among those great things includes stimulating their blood circulation. Who would’ve thought?!

5. To take care of infections or allergies

When they get hurt, they tend to lick the wound in order to heal it. When they get infections or allergies, they tend to do the same. If they show some excessive licking, you should definitely take them to a vet.

Another reason for your furry friend’s licking may be the fact that they are trying to get rid of unwanted parasites. To make sure they are safe, take them to the vet if you notice them doing this frequently.

Sounds a little bit weird, doesn’t it? Well, besides that it’s actually quite smart. Never underestimate cats.

Just because animals are different from us, it doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings or behavioral issues. They can have anxiety, feel depressed, or embarrassed. It’s the human version of biting your nails whenever you find yourself in a stressful situation.

Just make sure you offer them a safe and friendly environment.

regular grooming is good for your cat for all of the reasons mentioned above. But, if they stop doing it then it’s a problem. It can be for a lot of reasons. The main causes can be a sign of arthritis, pain, or dental problems.

Now, you won’t be able to constantly see if your cat is grooming or not. But you can watch out for these signs:

• A harsh or greasy coat

• Small mats of fur on her body or tail

• Staining on the paws from urine or residue

• Foul smell

• Food particles on her face or chest after meals
