Owning a dog is great, but sometimes with all the excitement and challenges, it can become pretty overwhelming if we think about it.

The good thing is that just like people, not all dogs are the same, so if you consider adopting a new pup that is just as much a couch potato as you are, we’ve got you covered.

Don’t get it wrong though, they still require physical exercise, play dates, and walks, but your life wouldn’t be as chaotic as it would be with more energetic dogs.

They are still a responsibility, but you will get to enjoy a companion while slacking off in front of the TV. Here are the most adorable canine slouches you can bring into your lovely home:

1. English bulldog

Their lifespan is between 8 to 10 years.

Because of their nose condition, they can’t do exercises that exhaust them, but they are very patient, calm, and affectionate dogs. Their silliness will keep you in tears and their companionship will provide you with a buddy for Netflix nights.

Those hot summer days should be preferably spent inside with the air conditioner on. They require brushing two or three times a week for 10 minutes, using a soft brush.

Stairs are a major NO for them since they can easily get hurt. When it comes to pools you shouldn’t allow them in the water that’s deeper than elbow level.

2. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels live between 12 up to 15 years.

Their favorite activity is to stay with their owner on the couch, offer them lots of kisses, love, and cuddle. They enjoy walks and playtime. You should know that their amazing silk coat requires daily grooming and occasional baths. Also, they are prone to many health issues so never skip a check-up.

Overall, this breed is highly affectionate, sweet, and gentle. Say goodbye to your old days of potato couching alone.

The Cavalier King will be the best companion you ever had during those Friday nights spent binge-watching your favorite show.

3. Bichon Frise

They live up to 14 or 15 years and they don’t exceed 18 pounds. Their personality is what makes most people fall in love with them. They are charming and very intelligent dogs.

Some may say that these breeds can be WAY too energetic for their stature, but their bursts will only last for a couple of minutes and then they will fall into a deep nap. Just like a toddler. House training can be a bit difficult with some of them, but it’s not impossible.

They are HUGE fans of cuddling and snuggling with their owners. In addition, their coat is hypoallergenic.

4. Dachshund

Wieners can live up to 16 years! The famous breed is widely known for its hilarious, yet adorable silhouette. The Dachshund dog might have small legs, but their personality is HUGE. They are smart, loving, and friendly.

Dachshund dogs are AMAZING lap dogs, and their legs are the proof for that. Their idea of exercise? Chasing a ball for two minutes then going back to laying around. Their favorite activity? Eating and napping carelessly.

They don’t shed a lot, so you don’t need to worry about grooming. When it comes to their health, they are a very healthy breed. These dogs are the perfect dogs for couch potatoes.

The French bulldog is the perfect companion for seniors and for those who live in an apartment. A walk around the neighborhood is enough physical activity for them. They have a high intelligence level, and they can easily adapt to anything. These dogs are also known for being full of love towards their owner.

Bear in mind that they can’t swim, and they shouldn’t be left alone near a bathtub or pool.

6. Havanese

They can live as long as 16 years! They get cheerful and easily excited, especially when they see their owner.

Havanese dogs are friendly, not fond of the outdoors and they require the least amount of exercise by going on slow-paced walks and a few times a day of playtime. However, they are very sociable and friendly with people and other dogs.

Their silk-like coat requires daily grooming. You shouldn’t be concerned about their health issues because they are generally healthy.

Fun fact: The breed originated from Cuba, these dogs are named after Havana, and they are the national dogs of the country.

Even though some of these dogs can be loud, they are another example of the perfect lap dog. Just like the breeds we mentioned before, Pomeranians don’t require a lot of exercise, and they are among the laziest of dogs.

Exactly what we needed! Grab the popcorn, the treats, and put on a good show that both of you could watch. Despite being lapdogs, they do require daily short walks to keep them somehow active.

8. Pug

Pugs live as long as 15 years! They are ideal house dogs. Make sure you don’t keep them outside during extreme temperatures because it’s not good for them.

Pugs are great friends! They adapt and get along well with everyone! However, if you don’t spend too much time around the house it may not be such a good idea to get one because they need to feel love and affection from their owner.

Don’t let their charm and silliness fool you! They are very lazy and have no desire to achieve almost anything! Pugs would be the perfect choice for anyone!
