…Does your dog have any sense of personal space?

Just like humans, pups have their own personalities. It doesn’t matter how much you trained them or how many tricks you teach them, their unique personality keeps shining.

This means that every pooch is different in its own way, and some dogs might like things while others don’t. For instance, some pups are goofier and cuddlier than others. Just as people do, many pups need attention, and they might look at you insistently, basically begging you to pet them, or they might jump on your bed when it’s time to sleep.

Pups are great for snuggles and adventure. But sometimes, they behave like kids: they just sit on top of you when you watch TV, they jump on you when you don’t give them attention, or they might sit with their paws on your laptop to distract you from work.

Some breeds need to spend more time with their favorite humans, while others prefer to be more independent. In which category can you include your pup? Here are 9 dog breeds that have no sense of personal space.

1. Retrievers

This is no surprise for us because we know how much Retrievers, both Golden and Labrador, enjoy cuddling and being comfy with their favorite humans. They are known for being one of the most loving and affectionate dog breeds, and they are very intelligent and also funny.

When they feel like you don’t give them as much attention as they need, they will do everything they can to get you to play with them, even if that means disturbing your focus.

2. Alaskan Klee Kai

Alaskan Klee Kai is a dog breed that looks a lot like a Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute. They’re very intelligent, goofy, playful, and sometimes moody. Some of these pups hate it when their owners tell them something they don’t like, and they usually start wolfing until they feel better.

They get attached to humans pretty quickly, and they love to spend time with their owners as much as possible. If they don’t have anyone around them, they feel alone, and they might give your neighbors a free show until someone comes home to play with them.

3. Rottweiler

Many people believe that Rottweilers are massive and aggressive dogs who should be feared. Even though they tend to be very suspicious of strangers and people they don’t know that well, they are just as cuddly as Retrievers. You just have to give them a bit of time to get used to your presence, then you’ll notice that they’re just some cute and fluffy pups.

They like to play and be around their favorite people, and they don’t mind cuddling for a longer period of time. They might look tough, but if they love you, they behave just like little lovebugs.

4. Yorkshire Terrier

These small and cute pups sure know how to make you laugh. They like to snuggle a lot, and when you don’t give them all your love and attention, they come close to you and start scratching you while making big, puppy eyes.

I have a friend who owns a Yorkshire Terrier that has no idea what personal space actually is. One time I visited him, I was sitting on the couch, and the pup was sitting on top of the backrest. He was so annoyed that I didn’t pet him long enough, that he went behind my back and rested his head on top of mine. It was absolutely adorable, and I immediately hugged him! And yes, he likes to stay in people’s arms as much as possible.

5. Pitbull

Many times, people make the assumption that Pitbulls are mean dogs, giving them a bad reputation. However, the reality is really different because these beautiful pups are very smart and affectionate, and they like to get cozy and receive treats from the people they love.

If you take them out to socialize with other dogs to see what they should behave like, Pitbulls can easily become your besties. They are very loyal, goofy, and smart, and you can teach them a lot of tricks.

Besides that, they are great as watchdogs, so why wouldn’t you like an affectionate and also strong pooch?

6. Jack Russel Terrier

These pups love to be around people, and they don’t care at all about your personal space. They simply have to be there, in the same room with you, wherever you go. Some people say that they’re so attached to their owners that they won’t leave their owner’s sight.

It doesn’t matter if you get out of the house for just 10 minutes. They don’t like to stay away from you. So make sure you come back home quickly! Another great thing about this dog breed is that they’re always happy to see you walk through the door, even if you’re grumpy or bored.

They can’t wait to play and cuddle with you, and they really love when you pet them and give them all of your attention.

7. German Shepherd

You might be surprised to read the name of this dog breed being mentioned on this list, but even a large-sized pup such as the German Shepherd craves all the attention and love their owners have to give. They’re very strong and loyal, which makes them great dogs for the military and police.

But just because they’re all about criminals and mysteries doesn’t mean that they won’t trade anything just to be lazy on the couch with their owners. German Shepherds are really smart and they can be easily trained to avoid all sorts of distractions and other things that can disturb them from their task at hand.

8. Doberman Pinscher

Did someone just say personal space? Yep, never heard of it. At least this is what Doberman Pinschers think when they see their favorite humans and all they want to do is jump on their lap for cuddles.

These dogs are big and powerful, and they are great at being watchdogs, but they are so sweet and affectionate that you can’t help but snuggle up with them all day long. If you were thinking of having some quiet time by yourself and maybe reading a book, you can still do it, but you might end up with a fluffy dog body straight on your lap.

…Did you know that the Doberman Pinscher was actually bred by a man named Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann? He was a tax collector who ran the Apolda dog pound in Thuringia, Germany, and who wanted to create the perfect watchdog to protect him.

9. Chihuahua

The Chihuahua is the smallest pup in the entire world, but their personalities are far from being small. These tiny pups are loyal to their owners and they are not afraid to show everyone how tough they are.

If you plan on enjoying some time with your friends and family and you don’t include them in your activities, you’ll surely hurt their feelings, since they expect to go everywhere with you.

They might be clingy and prefer to spend all of their time with you, but they sure know how to make the best of it. They’re fun and bubbly, they enjoy staying active and they might get jealous if they feel like you don’t pay enough attention to what they have to do, so be sure to give them plenty of your time.
