Aussie Pom

The parents of this crossbreed are the Australian Shepherd and the Pomeranian, and both purebred dogs, but their kids are considered designer dogs. They make excellent companions for families with children who live in an apartment. The truth is that their parents are very different in terms of personality traits, so the temperament of the Aussie Pom can also vary greatly.

According to animal experts, the Aussie Pom was developed in the 2000s in North America, as people wanted a dog with a beautiful and unique appearance and a super intelligent mind.

Being highly intelligent dogs, they need constant mental stimulation. They can also develop destructive behavior if left alone at home for long periods of time. Moreover, make sure your children know how to play gently with Aussie Poms because they are small and can be easily injured.

If your Aussie Pom tends to be more Aussie than Pom, you have to provide them with a lot of exercises as they have high energy needs. However, if your pet seems to be more Pom than Aussie, then you should know that they can get nervous around strangers and tend to protect their people.

  1. My fur daughter is a Peekapoo, cross between a Pekinese and miniature poodle. She is truly a member of the family, both personal and office! Highly intelligent, sensitive, and easy going, she is a highly treasured team member of our local hospice. I started training her to become a therapy dog at just months old, and she was the youngest to become certified at the local Delta Association. She never fails to pick up on peoples’ emotions and gives hugs, pressing her little head into your chest or leg…she’s a perfect addition to our grief groups. Maybe because she has always been around humans, people often mention that she acts more like a “little girl” than a dog!
