Morkie

The Morkie is a mixed breed dog resulting from the crossing of two purebred dogs, namely the Maltese and the Yorkshire Terrier. The Morkie is usually referred to as the Morkshire Terrier. They are small and devoted to their families, making them perfect for living even in an apartment. Being a mixed breed dog, they inherited the best qualities from both their parents, so if you want to adopt one, you will have a perfect friend for life.

In general, hybrid dogs are often called designer dog breeds. The term was ‘invented’ by the media because many celebrities usually show interest in hybrid dogs. However, you can find these mixed breed dogs even at animal shelters, so try to adopt instead of buying.

Their parents don’t shed much, and according to animal experts, the Morkie inherited this trait as well, but they are not officially considered hypoallergenic. In addition, if you have kids, try to make sure they play gently with them, as due to their small size, Morkies can be easily injured.

  1. My fur daughter is a Peekapoo, cross between a Pekinese and miniature poodle. She is truly a member of the family, both personal and office! Highly intelligent, sensitive, and easy going, she is a highly treasured team member of our local hospice. I started training her to become a therapy dog at just months old, and she was the youngest to become certified at the local Delta Association. She never fails to pick up on peoples’ emotions and gives hugs, pressing her little head into your chest or leg…she’s a perfect addition to our grief groups. Maybe because she has always been around humans, people often mention that she acts more like a “little girl” than a dog!
