We know that you love your pups a lot and that you only want the best for them, but there might be times when you don’t have a lot of time or money to take them to the salon for a haircut.

Sure, regular brushing and baths are a must when it comes to having a shiny and healthy coat, but that is not enough for a lot of dog breeds. However, if you’re looking for a pooch that is quite low maintenance and doesn’t need a lot of trips to the salon, we are here to provide you with all the information you need.

With that being said, here are 7 dog breeds that don’t need a lot of grooming.

1. Vizsla

The first dog breed on our list is Vizsla, a Hungarian pointer that is well-known for being lovable and willing to please its owners. They have a lot of energy, are very intelligent, and like to play.

A great thing about this breed is that they don’t have the typical dog smell that many breeds develop when they don’t get groomed. If you like being active and don’t have time to groom your pup, this one might be for you!

2. Beagle

Beagles are cute, friendly, intelligent, docile, yet very stubborn at times. Originally bred for hunting hare, they will easily become the best companions of adults and children of any age.

Even though they have medium-length coats that do shed, if you brush them weekly, they won’t need a lot of grooming outside of it. They are low-maintenance and so adorable, that they will surely become your besties in no time!

3. Doberman Pinscher

If you want a strong pup that doesn’t require a lot of grooming, you’re in luck, because Doberman Pinschers are just great! They are known for being loyal guardians of their family as well as being very smart and active.

They have short coats that even though shed, don’t need too much grooming. However, if you get a pup like this, you should know that they tend to be very suspicious of strangers, so make sure to pay attention to their behavior!

4. Weimaraner

Weimaraners are very popular among hunters, but they are very friendly and cute, and they can easily get along with children! They are low-maintenance thanks to their short coats, but they need plenty of exercise throughout the day, so they’re not great for people who have busy schedules and live in apartments.

5. Boxer

Boxers are a medium-sized working breed from Germany, that love to play and consume their energy. These dogs are very strong and they need a lot of activity to be happy, so if you want to get a pup like this, make sure you like walking or running.

They are loyal and friendly with people they know and they are great for those who have children. Boxers have short and thin coats, which don’t require a lot of grooming, other than some regular baths.

6. Great Dane

The Great Dane is a very popular breed, thanks to its impressive size. These big dogs come from Germany, where they were very good as guarding and hunting pooches. Even though they’re strong and might seem intimidating, they’re actually very gentle and funny.

Great Danes have a goofy personality that will surely make you laugh and they enjoy spending time with the people they care about. Despite being giants, these pups are affectionate and can easily get along with children of any age.

They might need more food rather than grooming, because their short coat doesn’t require a lot of care, other than weekly brushing.

7. Italian Greyhound

These cute pups are the smallest of the sighthounds and they are very notorious for being a companion breed. They like to receive attention from their owners and like being pampered lap dogs.

They’re very law-maintenance and their short and thin coats don’t require a lot of attention. There are times when monthly baths, for instance, can irritate their skin and coat.

Many people notice that wiping their pups down with a damp cloth is more than enough to keep them clean and fresh. If you’re looking for a pooch that is small and friendly, and that also likes to be taken care of, an Italian Greyhound might become your best friend!
