Glass-wing butterfly

This beautiful creature is named after its gloriously transparent wings which also have a brown border that makes its wings more visible. You can literally see through its wings. Its real name is Greta oto and is a migratory butterfly that can be found in Central America. The average length of a glass wing butterfly is 28 to 30 mm.

Moreover, in case you did not know this before, the caterpillar feeds on toxic plants to turn poisonous and as a result of this consumption, it uses it as a defense against predators. Even though their wings appear delicate and look like glass, the Greta oto can carry up to forty times their own body weight.
