Crazy Police Chase Of A Tortoise Gladly Ends Well

Never leave your tortoise home alone all day long! At least this is the lesson learnt by a family from Alhambra, California, when their pet mysteriously dissapeared while they were attending a baseball game back in 2014.

Clark is a 20-year-old sulcata tortoise that certainly has some adrenaline running through its veins. Once his family went away for a baseball game, Clark basically ‘ran away through the back door’ and actually passed by a few houses down the main street. Ruth Jauregui, an Animal Control employee, explains the escaping process:

“I think it pushed something out of the way and got out and it went a few houses down,” he says.

Luckily, some neighbours noticed Clark and called the police to let them know. Here is the declaration made by the Alhambra Police Department on their official Facebook page:

“The tortoise did try to make a run for it; but, our officers are pretty fast. Almost had a pursuit! It took two officers to take this guy into custody because it weighs about 150 pounds (and our cuffs … well not practical in this situation).”

In the end, Clark the rebel finally returned home to his family.
