Having a parrot can be a great thing, I mean  you can be a pirate for Halloween. We’re joking, but the thing is it can be a real fun experience to have a parrot.

Birds, in general are very smart creatures and so you will end up having a best friend and a partner in crime!

We know it’s hard to resist the temptation to teach your parrot some naughty words for comedic effect, but we suggest you go with something a bit more family friendly and even more hilarious!

But first let’s see how you can teach them to say it in the first place:

How Can I Teach My Parrot To Say Stuff

First of all let’s start with baby steps, after all it’s not an easy job to teach an animal to speak even if it’s a parrot.

You must remember that not all birds can talk (so make your research in advance and see if they have this ability), even if they can sometimes they choose not to (we’re pretty sure cats do that too) and so let’s follow the next steps:

• Get to know one another – it’s important to establish some kind of bound with them first, like with any other pet;

• Start with simple words like ”Bye”, “Hello”, “Night-Night” and always keep a friendly positive, tone;

• Repeat those ones that they seems interested  in as often as you can;

• Set up a daily routine ( maybe put on some tapes or even CDs) and don’t get discouraged if takes some time

Here are some genius phrases you can teach them:

1. ”Help! They Turned Me Into A Parrot”

A joke for the books. This one can be tricky to teach your parrot say, but in the end it’s hilarious and it works for all ages!

But, pay attention they have a tendency to say only half of it which is why it’s better if you teach them the entire sentence one word at a time even though it’s gonna take a while.

2. What Ya Doing?

You always complain that the kids or the grandkids never call you and ask you how are you or what you’re doing, now you’re parrot can ask you that.

We’re just kidding, but imagine them asking  you this with their tone. I know! You’ll be in tears!

3. Bless You

Well, thank you, Paulie!

Teach them to say this after you sneeze. I’m telling you this is gonna be the time of your life!

4. A Big Loud And Dramatic Nooooooooooo

Teach them to say this after a question or a sentence like ”We are out of crackers” or ”We are going to the vet”.

That dramatic ”No” will win them an Oscar. But make sure you set a special clue like touching their beak before saying the special phrase, that way they won’t abuse the word.

5. P*op On Its Way

This can be very funny, however after some time it can be pretty gross.

Imagine you’re eating when they say that. Just nasty!

6. I’m Calling The Police

This can turn out pretty useful when you have intruders in your home! Just picture the whole scenario!

But besides that you’re guests are gonna have a good laugh!

7. Any Other Basic Stuff

Before trying to get them into saying these elaborate phrases maybe you should try with the basics first.

Like ”Hello’, ”Hi’, ”Bye”, ”Night Night!”, it can be still pretty fun to hear them talk to you like any other person.

Takeaway

We must all remember that our pets are not our toys and we should treat them as our child. Teaching your parrot to speak can take some time, and some of them won’t succeed to do so at all.

But they are our friends and companions which is why we shouldn’t force them to do anything they can’t do and let nature take its course.
