The Brazilian Mastiff is also known as Fila Brasileiro, Brazilian Bloodhound, Cao de Brasil, Cao de Fila, and the Fila, and as the name suggests, they were developed in Brazil, as a large game hunting dog. According to animal experts, this dog breed isn’t recommended for first time owners or those who live in apartments, because they need rigorous training sessions and enough space to consume their energy.
Many people didn’t know about this dog breed until now, because in some countries around the world, they are banned as they are considered aggressive. However, just like any other animal, they can be aggressive when they feel threatened or not trained and socialized properly, but if you provide them with rigorous training sessions, they can make perfect companions.
Even though they are short haired, they shed regularly, so if you are allergic to dogs, then you should avoid adopting such a breed. Nevertheless, they can get along with other dogs, but only if they are the same size as them, otherwise they will see the small ones as prey.
