Their socializing process is also important and you should train them accordingly, otherwise, they may attack other small animals and strangers.

The Bernese Mountain Dogs love their owners and tend to protect them at all costs. It is your responsibility to provide them with adequate training sessions, so try to dedicate time and effort to make the right thing.

You won’t have to be sheepish when training this next breed…..

  1. My parents had a Australian Shepard, he was very easy to train, he just had too much energy for them, but he was a very intelligent sweet dog.

  2. Black Lab. Loyal, smart, sweet, easy train, empathetic, just ‘knows’ what humans need and when (especially with kids)

  3. My female Dalmatian was one of the smartest. Now I got a Bugg ,a Boston Terrier and a English Mastiff. I think it’s how you approach training, all three are extremely well trained, they do things that amaze me ,I use hand signals for all my dogs especially the Mastiff

    1. Sandy, things will go better for you both, if you think of “show and tell”, rather than “discipline.” And if you reward the desired doggy response, you’re halfway there.

    2. Yes, just be sure to find a good trainer based on the breed and if your dog has any behavioral issues that need to be addressed. Good luck, you will be amazed.
