Mudi
- Dog breed group: herding dogs
- Weight: 18 to 29 pounds
- Life span: 12 to 14 years
The Mudi (pronounced “moody”) is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful dog breeds in the world. Unfortunately, this dog breed is quite rare (there are only a few thousand at the moment). They can usually be found in Hungary and Finland. They have a beautiful coat, which comes in a variety of colors, including white, grey, fawn and black – this is one of the features that make them incredibly special and “strange looking”.
In addition, due to the fact that this dog breed is quite rare, the American Kennel Club doesn’t fully recognize it as an official breed, even if it allows Mudi to compete in some competitions. They are very intelligent creatures that love to learn new tricks, being extremely enthusiastic at the same time; not to mention they are devoted to their families as well.
Another important feature that represents them is that they are perfect watchdogs, so they will bark when they see something that’s out of the ordinary or strangers. Just like any other dog breed, you need to socialize and train them properly from an early age, otherwise, you risk raising a dog with problematic behavior.
