Bernese Mountain Dog

The Bernese Mountain Dog was initially developed to herd cattle and as watchdogs, but nowadays they can make excellent loyal companions (and they don’t bark a lot). Animal experts say that if you suffer from pet allergies, the Bernese Mountain Dog may not be a good option for you, as they shed a lot.

Fans of this breed say that they tend to bark only if there is a real danger. They also have a tendency to chase smaller animals, but if you train and socialize them properly, they can be really gentle and loving.

That being said, a well-trained Bernese Mountain Dog makes a wonderful companion that will adore the whole family. Of course, they love to spend time with children, but you need to focus more on their socialization training.

Before adopting a dog, you have to make sure that you have all the essential resources to raise an innocent soul, whether we are talking about money to meet their needs (such as good food, regular vet checkups, treatments, and so on), or other intangible things (such as affection and attention, daily walks, training sessions and so on).

Unfortunately, many people realize, after bringing a pet home, that they can’t keep them because they have to work all day and their neighbors complain about their barking and crying, or for other various reasons, so they abandon their furry friends. Bringing a pet home requires responsibility, commitment, and loyalty, so try to inform yourself before adopting an innocent soul, otherwise, you risk ruining a poor life.

  1. Thank you for all this information. Keep writing about different types of dogs and their personalities. Keeping people informed before they adopt or buy a pet. I really enjoyed reading this.

  2. The sharpei is not a good family breed dog or dog for most people. It was bred to fight and retains that aggression. Training cannot override centuries of breeding for fighting and it’s a liability to attack people or other animals without warning. My neighbor’s sheep were disemboweled by a sharpie that jumped their fence and attached them. Chow is another with too much selection for aggression in the blood. These are both on the uninsurable list for homeowner’s insurance for a reason.
